KIRU is an American artist and Gen Z entrepreneur. As the founder and CEO of KIRUNIVERSE, an experience age design of self exploration, he can be found daily supporting other artists and entrepreneurs in the limitless expansion of their social impact by way of purpose-driven brand strategy and content for their business or media platforms. In other words, KIRU helps artists and entrepreneurs to engage and inspire their audience simply by being who they are.
An impassioned and dedicated creative himself, KIRU has long been an advocate for the arts community. In June 2018, with Yadira Villalobos, a close friend and collaborator, he launched KIRUNIVERSE COLLECTIVE. The collective was designed to bring creatives together for the sole purpose of self-exploration in a safe space. Notable contributors include Rachel Dolezal (Artist), Jennifer Ortakeles (Writer), Tanya McGee (City Planner). Recently, KIRU served in the capacity of co-creative director for Melange Movement’s inaugural runway show for NYFW, described by NBC News as an arts movement that “served looks and broke barriers.” Rounding out his year in fashion, KIRU has joined the planning committee for NYC Jewelry Week, the first and only local week dedicated to promoting and celebrating the world of jewelry through educational and innovative focused programming, for their 2019 marketplace activation titled “#HEREWEARE.”
Foundationally, the driving force behind every achievement for KIRU has been an unwavering passion for the art of music. Influenced largely by the sonics of Kanye West, Lana Del Rey, and Frank Ocean, his eclectic styles of music have often been described as being so richly diverse that the shining factor of synergy among them is the soul behind it all. Recent projects include a number of singles and playlists, including I Found God (2018), ...And Then I Found Myself... (2018), ...And Then I Found You? (2019), Boxes (2019) and most recent single Body Is A Light (2019). In the last quarter of the year, KIRU is expected to release his long-awaited album, Saints in the Garden, self-described as the flagship production of his emergence as an independent alternative music artist in New York City.
